Exciting news

Launching My New Website — Welcome!

I am so excited to launch my brand new portfolio website! My name is Julia and it’s a pleasure that you’re here taking a look at my designs. I’m still working out some of the kinks from my website so I appreciate your patience as I fix some features.

If you like what you see, you can always visit my contact or about page to learn more information and reach out. I’ll be trying to post daily art “refreshes” to keep my designs up to date. I do not believe in the use of AI for design, as it defeats the purpose of creativity. Creativity is the ability to create, something an AI cannot comprehend. It can push out the same stuff, but it cannot create unique and original ideas without stealing from other designers.

The point in this website is to showcase my work and explore different mediums to really stick out and find my niche interest. Of course, I love exploring all sorts of different design, it’s fun to experiment (oh, I wish I had access to a printing press like I did during my print design class in college!). This is a website that is not just for professional development, but to also become my outlet.

Never will I forget my first graphic design portfolio review, explaining all my design choices in grotesque detail (shape, emotion, typographical feel, other exploration options, what works and what doesn’t, personas, mood boards, etc.). My professor stopped me right there after my portfolio review and told me I had potential to become an art director because of the way I explain all these concepts. Little did she know, I studied architecture, where every design choice needed to have a reason. I look back on my architecture knowledge to explain every little niche that needs to happen.

I fondly look back at that moment and realized that I can always write my own little blogs as an exercise. Maybe someday someone will read these and gain an interest on them. The universe is so big but also so small at the same time. You never know who might be looking around and exploring my website.

I thank you again for taking the time to reach my little blurb (if this gets any clicks at all LOL)… I’ll try to upload once a week as an exercise. Many thanks!

Sincerely,
a skeptical designer,
Julia
